View Full Version : Yeast Infection giving false positive in EtG test?

Ok here's the deal, I am in an alcohol/drug treatment program due to an alcohol related charge. I am required to submit random drug/breath tests as part of the program. I have yet to be tested for anything(I've only been in it a few weeks though) I have no idea if this treatment agency uses the EtG test. All I was told was sometimes the test will be a drug test and other times it'll be a breathlyzer. I imagine they do use the EtG though and I've heard that the EtG test gives off false positives for many things like hand sanitizer, nyquil, hundreds of normal household cleaning products, etc. Well my concern is I also read that a yeast infection can give off a false positive. Assuming this is true, is there anyway for the lab or whoever is doing the test to tell that the person has a yeast infection or would they just see EtG in the urine and bam you failed? It would be incredibly ridiculous if I fail an EtG test and have to start this program over because of that. I'm trying to cure it, but I have another counseling meeting this Tuesday and could easily get tested while still having this infection.

Thanks in advance for any comments/advice.

Dr. Bill answered a similar question not too long ago here:

(have you had the infection officially diagnosed? If yes, can you bring like a 'Dr's note' with you to the meeting just in case?)
