I have a Craftsman 24" Electric start Snowblower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. It seems to have ample spark, but will not start. What can I do to start the motor?

Hi,
First thing I would try is to "induce" the engine; that is to introduce fuel into the intake/carb to make sure that you have a fuel problem or not. It could be a small quantity of gas, or my favorite of a decent spritz of carb cleaner(I use Gumout but any should work.) If fires up and dies, then that should steer you to the carb or fuel delivery system. Do not forget the shutoff if so equipped.
If it does not fire, then it would likely be ignition timing(sheared flywheel key) or compression(Briggs engines occasionally would get gum deposits on the exhaust valve stems and stick.)
Only three systems involved; ignition, compression and carburetion.
Peace,
Clarke
