I am helping a friend file her taxes. I've already completed the 1040NR-EZ for her. A little information about her status. She is a J-1 visa holder on a 1 year work training program. She entered early September of 2012.

On to the questions first here is the link of the form I am talking about: http://revenue.la.gov/forms/taxforms/IT540(2012)(WEB)F.pdf

1.) Federal Itemized Deduction(line 8A) : I entered the state income tax from W-2.

2.) Line 24 : amount of Louisiana tax withheld for 2012.
-Do I enter the state tax again from box 17 on w-2?

Her W-2 only shows dollar values in following boxes: 1-6 & 16-17.
This is her only W-2 and I believe the only itemized deduction she can take is : State income tax correct? Also, I imput an exemption of 3800 on her 1040nr-ez is that acceptable?

Sorry, if this is a clusterf#*@k of information but, would like to thank all that can help in advanced.

She is single w/ no children w/ no dependents. Only herself as an exemption.

Actually, she can deduct her rent and utilities, plus daily living expenses, on Form 2106, because her job is considered temporary in nature hnder IRS rules.
