2008 Jeep Compass ,2.0 LT engine 2WD, Northern Edition. 150,000 km's showing and hopefully put on many more before having to consider replacing vehicle... I'm of the " If It's Not Broke , Don't Fix It " theory.. But keeping with Preventive Maintenance I'm curious about Engine Flushing.. The Heater is top notch in the Winter Months, almost instant heat from a Cold Start... On the subject of Flushing my 2nd thought was Flushing the Transmission... It's a Constant Velocity Transmission ( CVT ) It has never given us any trouble and I have never gotten myself in a situation to be stuck and rock the transmission back and forth from Forward to Reverse. Nor will I ever think of doing such a thing as I know of the abuse at that moment... Thanks

Go with what's specified in the Owner's Manual.

Engine flushing is so a no-no that Chrysler, GM, and others have issued service bulletins warning their dealers not to engines. Read this post on engine flushing

Should you do an engine flush (http://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/rip-offs-scams/engine-flushwallet-flush)

Be careful when flushing the engine it can cause leaks in the engine. After a while rust builds up in the engine and clogs small leaks that you do not see . I have seen flushing causing more problems then it helps.
