Im 13 years old an in 8th grade. This guy I talk to is 17 years old(11th grade). Both our birthdays are in June.. We want to date but were scared it is against the law.. Is it?

Well I think the legal issues are the last of your concern. To be honest, any 17 year old boy interested in a 13 year old should reconsider his motives and maturity level. At 17, you can drive, stay out late, hold a job, get ready to think about moving out to college. Completely different experiences than a 13 year old. I would advise you to be careful because it would be very easy for him to take advantage of you.

There are no laws against dating. However, in almost all areas you are what's called jail bait. Any sexual activity between you could have him wind up in jail.

But this is up to your parents. At 13 I think you are too young to date one on one. Its OK to hang out in mixed gender groups. Before you even think of dating him you have to ask your parents if its OK for you to date at all and if its OK you you to date a 17 yr old. If they say no, then there are laws that he would be breaking if he defies your parents.

But, as the first answer said, the age gap between you is huge. While 4 years is not a big deal when you are both adults it is, when one of you is a minor.

Agree, you have to tell your parents and get their permission to date, it would not be "legal" without their permission
