I'm sorry. I know this question sound ridiculous, but I was asked this earlier today and I wondered the same thing. I understand that women have them to feed their babies, but what purpose do nipples hold on a man? Its not like he really needs them for anything.

Men would probably look less attractive to woman if they didn't have them

Good question but all we all can do is guess on that one. There have been some men that can actually produce milk. So maybe it is possible that men can actually feed their babies to if practise real hard. Lol

Actually the fact is that men and women are same for some time (Weeks or months) in the womb of the mother. Till the times come for the development of genitals, difference between sexes can only be seen at genetic level. When the time comes, genitals of men and women start to develop. Women also have glans but its called clitoris and it has same number of nerves as in man's glans. Men's genitals start to grow outside the body and women's in side the body. Both of us possess opposite sex's hormones as well. It's just that males have low quantity of female hormones and females have low quantity of male hormones. So the philosophy is that we are basically same but we have to be distinguished as different sexes. Genitals are developed oppositely but breasts are either developed (as in women) or not developed (as in men). Or maybe it can be said that males are also female in the beginning. See women are supposed to have long hairs as compared to men. So women have developed breasts & long hairs (of head) and we (men) have small hairs (because we usually make them small) and undeveloped breasts. There shoue be differences between us for our different roles and also that we'll be more attracted towards each other.
Hope I've answered up to be very close to the real answer.
