Hi, I just had my 11wk screening, ultrasound for ds! They said my babies neck was a bit thicker than they like and there was no nose bone! I am freaking out I'm reading and getting so many different answers I'm getting more and more worried! Will my child develop a nose bone? Is the fact that also the neck was a bit larger than they like mean I'm having having a child with ds?? Please good or bad I need to know the straightest answer possible!! Thank you!!

To be honest there is no definitive way to tell yet. 11 weeks is still pretty early on in the pregnancy. I would ask [if your dr. has not already suggested it] going in for a level II sonogram in a few weeks, they will be able to see if there is any fluid in specific parts of the brain, and heart, if the finger bones are straight and if the length of the arm and leg bones are as they should be, all of which are much better indicators associated with DS.
Although no nasal bone is a "soft" marker for DS, there may not be anything wrong with the baby and the bone may develop normally later in the pregnancy. I've known quite a few people who were told during their pregnancy that there was a problem with neck thickness of the baby, all turned out to be nothing. Sorry I can't be of much more help, and I hope that you have a happy, healthy baby.
