I'm working on a John Deere LX176, engine runs good, and all, but it won't start. I have gotten it to start a few random times. When I turn the key on I get the yellow battery light, but when I turn it to run, I get nothing, battery is good, and fully charged, I checked all the fuses, they are good, and I have started this mower at least twice in the past two days with no issue. The solenoid and starter seem to work good as well. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking of replacing the ignition switch next, but instead of throwing money around for parts it might not need, I figured I'd ask first.

Hi,
I believe you make a bit of an error in tour description; the battery light comes on in the Run position(which is also the On position.) Other than that it has two other positions, th Off position and the Start position. If you turn it the start position and here a click, then it is the shift solenoid(the 2-3" round cylinder mounted to the side of the starter) and is fixed usually with a Low Voltage Kit #AM107421. If it does nothing, then it is probably the ignition switch module, which has one of two part numbers depending on the serial number - #AM115103 for serial M0L1760X10001 - M0L176X077838 and #AM120105 for -A110001, -B110001 and -X077839 where those are the final seven characters of the serial number. The serial number tag will be on the left or right frame rail around the engine.
Peace,
Clarke
