I rented a house 10 months ago and the landlord never gave me a lease that was suppose to be for a year,he has given me 2 eviction notices and then says I can stay ,I received another eviction yesterday for no reason.I pay my rent every month on time if not before and have done nothing wrong for him to give me an eviction. My question is can he evict me for no reason? He harassed me every day by driving through my driveway and stalks me by sitting outside my house a lot.He has lied to me about where he lives and a few other things.I feel he is evicting me for an unjust cause .

Most states don't require a landlord to provide a reason for terminating your tenancy.

Most states don't require a landlord to provide a reason for terminating your tenancy.

And do you really want to stay there with a landlord that acts like this?

You may have a claim in harassment.

Since you have no proof that you have a one year lease, you are probably on a month to month lease (unless you can prove otherwise). The eviction would list a reason. Can you tell us what reason the landlord is giving you? If he does decide he wants you to leave, all he has to do is give you a notice which includes a 30 day rental period. Example, if he gave you notice anytime this month, you would have to be out before May 1.

Since the rent is always paid on time or before, I have to wonder if the landlord might not have the property up for sale or sold and the closing date keeps changing. Is that possible? That would explain the request for you to leave, then stay, then leave, then stay.

I am a landlord and it is my understanding that I may evict for any reason, lease or no lease. If I decide I need to move back into my house for any reasn I may do so. The mistake is that you never made him give you a copy of the lease before moving into the place. He could have jacked up your rent and you would have had no documentation that he agreed to let you have a certain price for a certain length of time. I say move. Who wants to be stocked and harassed. You could have a case here. That is so not appropriate even if he wants to evict you. Get him!

Suezq74 what state do you live in, CA? In most staes you can not evict for any reason and moving back into oyu home only works in just a few states. The bottomline is, you are right, this person needs to leave before the crazy guy gets any crazier.
