My 5 year old female staff has had brown thick discharge from her vagina, she doesn't seem like she's any distress. It doesn't smell and I don't think she is in her heat cycle as she had one last month, but we recently got a male staff puppy and he has been trying to get on the back of her. I'm really worried that there might be something seriously wrong with her. What should I do?

A male staffy puppy will mount anything really, so don't think that is credible. If she had one last month and you know your dog well, I would have to say that you need to make a vet appt. soon to see what is going on. In we females, the brown discharge before menstruation is usually old blood being dispersed from the uterus; it may be the same with your staffy.

Any time there is anything medically alarming going on with your pet, the only option is to go to the vet.

I do have to ask, are you planning on breeding her, is that why she's not fixed, and you got a male? If so, why don't you know enough about dogs to know when your dog needs a vet? There's more to breeding than buying a male and a female.
