I have a Facebook account, set up by my son, which uses my wife's full name as the user at my email address. I would like to use my username but have not been able to for years, and I have tried everything I know how.
If I go to facebook.com and try to change it there, I get a message, "Your account must be verified before you can change your username. If you have a mobile phone that can receive SMS, you can verify via mobile phone. If not, please try to register your user name at a later date."
I don not have a mobile phone that can receive SMS(?).
Can anyone out there help me?

You can only change your account's username once. To change your username:
Click at the top right of any Facebook page and choose Account Settings
Click General in the left-hand column
Look for the setting Username and click Edit to the far right
Type your new username in the open field and click Save Changes

Click Settings go to your account settings. Change your current username and check for availability. If it's available, you'll have to click the final confirmation window to finalize the change.
