I was adopted by my grandparents when my mother died. No one ever spoke of her, though she has many siblings. There are no photos and no stories and absolutely nothing online! I
Am 35 and she died at 36. All I have is a grave site and my search ends there. I was nearly 2 when she died in 1979. I need to read her obituary or see her face or something... I don't want my mother to not have existed. Can anyone help me?

Ancestry.com is one place to start, normally they will have death records and the such.

Your grandparents, this would have been their daughter and most likely would have had some photos.
Her high school or college for year book photos.

I wish I had an answer for you :(... but I'm a searcher to and I'm only 12! Sometimes I wish this stuff just wasn't real .That it doesn't happen to a kid , or anyone , who was just as innocent as a guardian angel itself... Sigh... well good luck I really do wish you the best of luck

Your mother existed, otherwise you wouldn't be here. You don 't need to know that she existed since you are proof of that.

What you need to know is about who she was. Why doesn't her family talk about her? Have you tried discussing that?

She would be about 70 now. Her many siblings should all be within about 10 years of 70, plus or minus, so 60 to 80.
Start with her birth record at the town hall where she was born. Look on Facebook for male siblings with her last name. Even if no one wrote an obituary, there might be local news stories about her death. Put an ad in the paper in the town. Ask at her high school about a newsletter for alumni, and see when her next class reunion is. Ask the cemetery where her grave is if the can look at the record of who paid for her plot. And so on.. the search itself might be as good for you as finding out who she was and how she died. Be prepared for suicide, drugs, murder.

Hire a private investigator if all else fails - some people do manage to fall beneath the radar but those people are rare.
