Hi, I'm 17 and started my period about 2 years ago but only recently it has started to regulate and I've been getting a regular period for the past 4 months now.

The next period is due on the 21st of this month (3 days from now) and I have just noticed a brown-ish discharge in my underwear.

I am not on any birth control and I suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome which means I have lots of cysts on my ovaries.

Does any one know why I may be getting this brown discharge?

It could be the beginning of your regular period. The menstrual cycle isn't as exact as a calender. There are billions of chemical reactions going on in your body. Any little thing can alter the process a bit.
