What can happen if I missed the muscle and injected the testosterone directly into a vein? I forgot to pull the plunger back once the needle was inserted and when I pulled the needle out blood ran down the back of my leg like a river. I grabbed an alcohol swab and applied pressure for a few minutes until bleeding stopped but am wondering if the medicine will still work and if there are any health risks. Do I need to give myself another shot in the muscle?

Isn't what you are doing illegal?

No. I have a prescription from my physician because I suffer from low testosterone levels. They prefer you to give yourself the injections and train you how to do it in the doctors office rather than have me come in and tie them up every month and waste my time also. This is only the second time I've injected myself and forgot that one step and wonder how critical it is.

I think you had better phone your doctor, but you could have punctured a cipillary, which would not be a big deal, you could tell by the bruising if it was, which would be minimal; hitting a vein would br major bruising (keep this in mind).

Some men use a topical testosterone gel, the name escapes me, you might ask your doctor. It would eliminate this problem.

Thanks. I'm thinking it was a capillary. The bleeding stopped within 1 or 2 minutes and I don't see any bruising so far. My 2 main concerns are if there are any negative effects to internal organs and if I will still receive the full benefit of the medicine since it didn't go into the muscle.

Anything substance injected into muscles will go into the bloodstream anyway; the body takes only what it needs, rest is eliminated naturally, so I don't think you did any damage. As for getting the full benefit, I don't know the answer to that, but check with your doctor and possibly eliminate this worry and start using the topical solutiion.

Thanks but I already tried the cream. They prescribed the cream and I used it for 3 months. After 3 months my testosterone level was 200. The doctor took me off the cream and put me on the injections. He said some people just don't respond to the cream. I was thinking maybe it was just a bad tube they gave me from the pharmacy. I never felt any benefit from using the cream. I do mail order prescriptions and when they shipped it to me it was summertime and the weather was very hot about 110 degrees outside so maybe the heat could have damaged the medication? The doctor said he didn't think so and hence I am doing the injections now. I checked this morning and did not bruise at all so I guess everything is fine.
