My last period started on December 29, 2012, and ended oddly late (lasted 8 days). It is now January 14,2012. My boyfriend and I have been sexually for the past week and before that I had light brown discharge that went away. We had sex 4 times last week and it is now 4 days after our last sexual intercourse. The other day, I experienced light pink bleeding, which had stopped after half an hour to an hour. The next night, I began spotting mucusy light red, which then increased to a watery light red, which then decreased to a watery light pink. What could be the problem?

Pregnancy ( spotting), infection, STD, and several other medical issues. Pregnancy is the most common reason, and would fit the time line.

Since you are not trying to conceive, which birth control pills are you on ? Were you also using condoms which would reduce the chances of pregnancy ?

If you were using no protection, YES you are trying to conceive

I am not on birth control. Also, we were using condoms for protection.

Condoms work fairly well, but have a 3 to 10 percent failure rate as normally used.

So the chance is there, but reduced since you were using protection.

Should I take a pregnancy test, or wait to see if I miss my period to take it?

Could this bleeding also just be from abrasions due to sexual intercourse?
