HELP -- our older GE refrigerator model tbx145abbraa makes an awful screeching sound when the fan kicks on in the freezer. We have had maintenance look at it a couple of times and every time they say they fixed it but again, whenever the fan kicks on it screeches for about 2 minutes then stops. It's so loud it wakes the kids.

Is is fixable or is it time to get a new one?

Sounds like the fan is unbalanced, but if it stops eventually then this makes me wonder... if possible replace the fan itself, not the motor or anything, it shouldn't cost too much for just the fan
