I am trying to hook up my gas dryer and was told there should be some pieces on the back and there is not all there is is the line that comes out the back. I don't want to hook it up wrong should there be something else on this part.

What are the ends of the pipe from the house and the pipe on the dryer like? Does the house pipe end with a valve? The valve may say 1/2 on it, or if the hole is almost 3/4'' inside, it is standard 1/2'' pipe. Pipe goes by ID. You need to buy a length of flex so the dryer can be moved. Select flex with the safety fitting sized to fit the valve. What is the pipe on the dryer like, just a pipe with threads on the outside smaller (1/2'') than the valve? Likely 3/8'' standard pipe. You will need a flare to pipe adapter and a coupling to connect the flex to the dryer pipe. If you have the fittings I described, the best thing is to go to a real hardware, not Lowe's or Home Depot. Tell them you need a flex line to run from a 1/2'' valve to 3/8'' male pipe for a dryer. They should help you pick out what you need.

If your pipe doesn't seem to be what I was describing, post back. If you already have flex, make sure it is the newer, plastic coated stuff. The old bare metal stuff can pull apart creating a terrible gas leak.

I had a plumber install a gas pipe (black) from my stove to outside, it has several joints and three shut off valves: one at the stove, one on inside of wall and one by the dryer outside. I need to remove the pipe which goes through the lower kitchen cabinets. How do I do this safely and what kind of tools will I need?
