Hi,
I am an international student in the US on F-1 visa. I have filed federal tax returns twice and NY state tax returns once preciously. Both times my W-2 did not show social security wages or medicare wages (and the tax withheld for each of these). However, this year my W-2 shows figures on those boxes. How does this affect my tax filing process?

Sincere help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

It will NOT affect your federal or state income tax return.

However, if you are under a F-1 visa, you should NOT be paying these taxes. Contact your employer and ask him to refund these taxes. When he refuses (and he WILL refuse), get the refusal in writing, preferably on companyty letterhead, then submit Form 843 to request a refund of these taxes.

I am doing Turbo Tax this year. Is a pension income considered "wages" and also where do I find Medicare wages" I don't know what that means. Is it on my W2 or 1099 SSA statement

Pension income is NOT considered to be wages or any other type of EARNED income. It is considered to be deferred compensation and is NOT subject to FICA (Social Security and Medicare) taxes.
