In the movie the woman who helps and comforts the prisoner is disliked and sort of despised by the family whose daughter has been murdered.
The prisoner lies to the woman about not killing anyone at first
As the process of talking and a lot guiding is going on the woman gets to know the prisoner and develops a feeling of sympathy for him, and that is why the family look down on her.
In the end the prisoner tells the truth and the reason he has not been able to speak out the truth is because he scares.
Knowing the fact does not seem to change anything for the woman holds the prisoner's hands and tells him it would be all right if he repents.
