Hi, I am 17 years old. On November 29, I had a surgical abortion. About 5 days later, I had unprotected sex which was the stupidest decision that I've ever made, I know. A couple days after that (about a week after my abortion), I took a pregnancy test. It came up positive. My doctor said that was normal because the pregnancy hormones were not out of my body yet. Today on January 5, I had some cramping. When I checked myself later, I had some blood on my underwear. I'm wondering if this is spotting that has to do with a new pregnancy or if it's my period?

Have you contacted your doctor?

It's really impossible to tell if this is spotting, your period, etc. etc. We have no way to give a diagnosis online.

Is pregnancy possible? Of course it is, you had unprotected sex, and I agree, it was a very stupid thing to do. Most people learn that lesson after their first abortion. To go from an abortion to having unprotected sex, within days, is just mind bogging. You really didn't learn much from this mistake, did you?

Well, you'll have to contact your doctor, tell him that you had unprotected sex, and then hope for the best. Maybe you'll be lucky this time. If you are, then I suggest that you learn from all of this and stop having sex until you're ready to have a child. I don't disagree with abortion, unless it's used as a means of birth control.

No, I haven't talked to a doctor about this situation. But a had a physical done a couple weeks ago and my doctor said everything was perfectly normal.

An very early pregnancy wouldn't be detected in a physical unless bloodwork/urine test was done.

You always and I mean always need to tell the doctor everything, so they can properly test and treat you.

I would return to the doctor so he can check for any issue that having sex may have caused.

I am going to call the place where I got my abortion on Monday. I couldn't tell my doctor because my Mom was in the same room as me and she doesn't know anything about my abortion or me being pregnant in the first place.

So if you had been having serious illness and conscienceless at home one night, mom would have had no idea what to tell medical personnel?

Part of growing up, if you think you are an adult and old enough to have sex, you have to be old enough to be honest and take responsibility.

I know but my parents are extremely strict. And I'm talking strict like, not letting me go outside the house unless I'm with them. Pregnancy would just shatter my Mom's heart, so I thought taking responsibility for what I did was going to get the abortion done. But, since I got my period, I need to learn about birth control. But I don't know which one would be better because I want to get my period too. So the pills?

You must have had some time alone to get pregnant. Make sure you ask the doctor all of these questions.

Yeah, I definitely will. But another question, just so I know; What does spotting look like?
