Hello,
I am 23 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I have just started seeing a new ob/gyn a couple of months ago and she put me on a birth control (pill form). I started my menstrual on November 17th, 2o12 and it didn't end until December 15th, 2o12. During that time, I went into her office and she changed my birth control. The birth control wasn't working so I called her asking for something that would stop my menstrual and she told me to start taking two birth control pills a day (I did not do this and stopped my birth control completely because my pharmacist said that taking two a day could be dangerous). She also wanted me to switch my insurance agencies so that she would be able to perform a D&C. So I ended my menstrual about two weeks ago. Since then I have had migraines everyday that will not go away, my breasts have become extremely tender, extreme nausea, lower back pains, sharp pains in cervix and right ovary that come and go. I also started discharging a dark brownish fluid yesterday and it is still the same color and is starting to flow a little more. What could be wrong with me? I have changed my ob/gyn but they can not get me in until January 8th, 2o13. Please help.

Going on and off birth control can be very hard on your body. PCOS would explain most of your symptoms and ceasing taking the pill would explain mid cycle spotting (brown discharge). If there is ANY chance you could be pregnant you should test. Otherwise, make a written list of your symptoms and keep that appointment for the 8th. Stressing yourself out won't make you feel any better. Remain calm. You are going to need time to recover from all the hormonal changes the pill can cause.
