Years ago there use to be a department store chain called Zayes. Inside the store was a jewelry section. I when back a week later and the jewelry section was gone. While the jewelry section existed inside the store, they were not part of the store. They just leased a section. Now I wonder if the auto section in Walmart, is part of Walmart or not. What do you think.

The department store was called Zayres, not Zayes (many was the happy hour I spent there). And it seems as though Walmart's auto section is under its own umbrella --

By 1977, Wal-Mart made its first corporate acquisition, assuming ownership and operation of the Mohr-Value stores, which operated in Missouri and Illinois.[4] This was followed by the acquisition of the Hutcheson Shoe Company in 1978. In the same year Walmart also branched out into several new markets, launching its pharmacy, auto service center, and jewelry divisions. You will also see Subway in Walmart but if Walmart puts its name on it they own it.

I know the tires are exclusively made for Walmart. So I guess it is part of Walmart.
Thanks
