My house was built in 1979, and we have lived in for all thirty three years - I knew early on that my one outdoor, one garage and two bathroom outlets were gfi's -they have no reset buttons, so when one trips you find that the circuit breaker in the box is tripped, throw it, and everything is OK again. Now, I find that only one in the bathroom nearest the box is still working, and the breaker is not tripped. Help!

I'm assuming that you are saying that this circuit is on a GFI breaker rather than having GFCI Outlets. First thing I would do is unscrew the working receptacle in the wall and make sure all the connections are tight on the back. You should turn off the breaker FIRST. If the wires enter through little holes on the back instead of being wrapped around the screws On the receptacle, you may have a loose connection, as these types are known to fail. If connections are okay there you should move to the next outlet down the line and check for a loose connection there.

How many different circuits are we talking about?

I do not suspect a breaker issue as much as a defective GFCI receptacle or a missed GFCI receptacle upstream of the failing receptacle.
