I am filing out an application for an organization that I used to work for and have filed out an application once before. There are 2 questions that I am unsure how to answer, because I do not recall how I answered them before.

Convicted of a Crime/Felony?

I was convicted of a crime nearly 20 years ago, for shoplifting.

Ever fired?

Yes, nearly, 15 years ago.

Should I be concerned if I answer the question differently from my previous application? Will the organization even look at my previous application? I still know a lot of people there, including the HR folks.

How do I deal with this dilema?

Thanks!!

Answer honestly! Never lie on an application! You will most likely be given an opportunity to explain yourself but by telling the truth, if it is found out, you have already told them about it.

Even though it is hard to be honest sometimes, it really is the best! And it was 20 yrs ago, surely they won't think too much about that!

Good Luck!

Shoplifting is not a felony, depending on how the question is asked if they are asking just about felony then you don't have one.

As for the being fired, I don't believe in lying.
