Hey everyone,
I have a 1998 Honda Accord ULEV.
Last Friday I was at Target, came out to start my car and as soon as I turn the key to start the car, it was as if someone turned off the lights in the car. Dashboard lights everything went dead. After a little bit, I'd get power back but as soon as I'd turn the ignition switch to trigger the starter, same thing, all the power would be gone. Battery is practically new, had it checked, works fine. Pulled out the starter, brought it to O'reilly's and had it checked. Checked out fine. My brother checked out some fuses while I was gone and he said everything looked okay with them. (Wish I could say which ones but I wasn't there.) Put the starter back in, car started right up. Tried a dozen more times, started right up each time. Later that day, I go to start it. This time I have power, there is a clicking sound but hear nothing happening under the hood. I live in southern California, not very cold here.
Any ideas? Now it sounds like it's the starter but I had it tested and they said it was fine so I'm at a loss.

Thank you ahead for your time and help,
Christine

Replace the ignition switch:

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove dashboard lower cover and knee bolster.

3. Disconnect 5-P connector from under dash fuse box and 7-P connector from main wiring harness.

4. Remove steering column covers.

5. Insert key and turn it to "0".

6. Remove two screws from switch and replace.
