I recently signed a lease agreement to move into a student apartment the near future however a situation beyond my control has come up and I am not able to move at this time. I notified the leasing office in writing 30 days before the lease is effective that I need to cancel our agreement. Being that I never moved in is there anything I can do at this time because they are not willing to work out any other arrangements. I'm shocked at how unwilling they are to work something out since this is student housing!

With so much on my plate, this situation is extremely frustrating to say the least! Any advice or legal links would be greatly appreciated!

You need to read your lease and see if there is any out. But even 30 days notice is tough on student housing since students have already made their plans.

Is this housing through the school? If so you can try enlisting the school's help.
