I've noticed recently that movie theatres are showing more commericals. (It seems to be happening a lot with chain movie theatres)They seem to be half as many and at times they show more commercials than they do trailers. I've noticed this in the past few months. It's really ticking me off. There are still many people who care about the upcoming trailers and many fandoms who want to see upcoming trailers for series(I have yet to see the mortal instruments trailer on an actual screen as well as the second beautiful creatures trailer. I am a huge fan of tmi and am excited for the movie series based off the books). I also want to read the caster series and watch beautiful creatures.

Anyway, At the hobbit last night, they only showed one trailer! The movie was great and I get because it's long, they may not show as much but did it have to be so many commercials? Also part of the commercial is the ciniplex commercial they show. WI also get that advertising helps pay for stuff, but so do the movie trailers! Will they reduce the amount of commericals?

What do you think? I would like to hear your perspective from varying sides including if you feel the way I do and from someone who is a movie theater owner including a chain one.

p.s. yes I know I can watch trailers on the internet which I do too

100% of the ticket price goes to the studios not the theaters that show the movies... any profit they make to pay all the costs comes from other than the actual movie itself.

Advertising, and sales of food is the main revenue for the movie theaters. Same reason you have 20 minutes or more advertising on TV every hour.
Chains have more most likely since they have a better advertising sales staff.

If anything you will see more and more in the future
