My Fiancé and I got two puppies 2 weeks ago. The younger one does not potty in her crate and has very little accidents in the house. My 4 month old shepherd however barely ever goes out side and has accidents in the house and her crate everyday and every night. We take her out often but she still has these accidents. She even walks and lays in her accidents. What do we do other than the potty problem she is a great dog but I do not know what to do anymore. We enrolled her in puppy classes but those don't start for another 2 weeks I really want this problem to stop before then... please help!!

Dogs instinctively want to keep their quarters clean. However once a dog is forced to live in its filth, it can be tough to correct the problem. More so if the dog is shut up more than 4-5 hours at a time. If neither of you are available to give them a mid day break, do you have a neighbor , or even a professional dog walker?

See the sticky on housebreaking, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/information-articles-our-dogs-expert-labman-53153.html#post251809 Carefully following it should help the problem. See the section on ''What does a puppy need?'' too.

The grid or rack does a great job of keeping the dog up out of urine, but works poorly on stools.
