Hi,

I am a British Citizen and my husband has an ILR for UK. He has recently been relocated to the US and the company would like to sponsor a Green card application for him. My question is - Can an individual have and retain permanent resident permits for 2 countries, UK and US specifically in this case?

Specifically, permanent residency is exactly what it implies, maintaining a permanent residence in both countries, and paying taxes for both. Quite an expensive proposition. What country does he belong to exactly? I suggest hiring an immigration lawyer would be a good idea just to explore tax implications.

Both ILR and US green card have restrictions on number of days the person physically lives in the country each year... guess you will have to choose one and then start over the other one when this job is over.
