I am new at doing my own plumbing. I have no idea what kind of shower faucette I have or what type of cartridge it takes. There is no writing on any of it. Nothing in the stores look anything like the setup I have. Mine must be at least 20-30 yrs old. Can so.meone please look at my pics and let me know if you've ever seen anything like it? I did pull the cap off and part of the cartridge out which I did take a picture of. Hope it helps. Thanks

Is there a clip holding the cartridge in? Back to you, Tom

Looks similar to a delta, but hard to say. Many variations of this type of setup. Can you post a pic of the handle and trim?

Did you have any luck with removing this cartridge? I have the same one and I'm having a challenge removing it as well so I was hoping that someone had some helpful info

I believe that is an older style VALLEY shower valve up there. They can be a bugger to work on and replacement parts are not easily found at most plumbing supply stores. They can usually be found online pretty easily (just Google Valley shower valve). Here is a parts diagram (see image)47615... see if it matches up. If the picture matches up to your valve or valve parts, purchase the replacement cartridge and associated parts and THEN disassemble the valve... seeing all the parts in front of you before you start will make removal of older parts much easier! Back to you...

Thanks for the info massplumber2008. I've attached a couple of images of my cartridge and I'm wondering if you still think it's a valley? I'm having trouble finding anything that resembles this cartridge. Any additional help you could provide would be much appreciated.

Separate the pieces and lay end to end and then post another picture. I can tell you it isn't a Delta, so figure it must be a valley, but I can't be 100% sure yet.

Well, you got me on this one! In 35 years, I've never seen that setup. That I know of, Delta never had curved cup washers, so that should eliminate them from the equation. I would search the Internet for VALLEY shower valve replacement parts and see what turns up. It may be that you get lucky and find everything you need. Finally, if you haven't already, bring these pictures to your local plumbing supply wholesaler... they should be able to help or at least direct you to someone local with repair parts. You can't be the only one in your area with this valve!Keep us posted, OK?

Good luck!

Looks like it was an old Universal Rundle. I found it scouring the internet earlier today looking through a kissler product catalog. Googled the part and found it on Amazon and it should be arriving tomorrow. I included the Amazon link below if you're curious.

LASCO 0-2079 Single Lever Cartridge for Universal Rundle 0380 - Faucet Cartridges - Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/LASCO-0-2079-Single-Cartridge-Universal/dp/B006NWO0BO/ref=pd_sim_60_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=10A914XPBX3ZHY73JHWG)
