Question is the same as Title. Saying happy birthday, is it a wish or is it an acknowledgement?

I think it's a wish. It's certainly not something I would overthink.

I have 3 buddies named Sean. Tennis Sean and Bartender Sean had birthdays last Friday (12/15) and Manager Sean's was Saturday (12/16).
So my happy birthday was basically saying "Why did I meet so many Seans with December birthdays."

It's an imperative, like Have a nice day or Let go of my arm.
Sean is Irish often? Are they of Irish heritage? When is St. Patrick's Day? 37 to 39 weeks earlier? Do you drink a lot of beer? Do they? (I know, stereotypes, shoot me)
The significant others in my life were all born from near the end of February to the beginning of March. What does that mean? Astrology is meaningful?

Wow you are good. Bartender and Manager Sean are Irish. So am I - well Irish and Welsh. They both drink a lot of beer. I believe Tennis Sean is German and he hates beer.
My birthday is February 16.

Parents had lots of Spring sex.
I meant in terms of our mutual attraction, Pisces and Sag's.
Oliver, LOL.
I looked up birth day studies. Seems most babies in the US are born 9 months after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. September is the biggest and August is next.

I think it is both.. A wish for a good day and an acknowledgment of it is your special day.
