>one sentence removed, refers to a different thread<
My mom did something similar but I know for a fact that my Father did not pay one cent towards child support. Because SHE never told him where we where, his crime was cheating on her though so I understood both of their positions.
My dad finally found me because of the internet and we are finally reunited these last 5 years.
I want to add him to my BC and change my name to his.
Any further help would be appreciated.

I want to add him to my BC and change my name to his.
First, you should start a new thread if you have a new question like this.
Chances are you can't change the birth certificate. One's "pedigree" is not what BCs are for. If you want to change your name you would apply to the court for a name change.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.
If you want to change your name, go down to Family Court and file a petition for a name change. The court clerk should help you. As an adult this should be an easy process.
Changing the birth certificate is another matter. The ONLY reason to do so is to establish inheritance from your father. But he can take care of that with a will. To amend the birth certificate will mean paternity testing and a court battle since BOTH parents will need to agree.

Inheritance is not the ONLY reason for wanting to do this my reasons are personal. And as I mentioned in another thread I have Autism so really don't need you people judging me and bullying me in open forums as it does nothing for me.
Both parents are in agreement.
Birth place is Denver.

Where are you being bullied? I have an autistic child and will defend you if you have been bullied.
***Added*** Have reviewed all your posts. There was no bullying, just a comment that you had misunderstood part of a someone else's post.

Yeah where did that bullying comment come from? You posted this question under Family Law. You got an answer that dealt with the law. It explained your options.
I'm sorry if I didn't make it clearer but the only LEGAL reason is inheritance. I'm sure you have personal reasons and that they are very good. But those personal reasons will mean nothing to a court.

I need him on my BC for a reason other than inheritance to legally show that he is my father.

AK Lawyer posted on another thread you probably didn't read.
I need clear step by step information not general stuff like 'approach the courts' that does not help me at all.

Yes, I did. That is the thread that I am referring to, that you misunderstood someone's post.

Then please tell us that when you first ask.

OK I'll try to be more informative in original posts. So can anyone help me or is this just going to be a bunch of garbage mixed in with misinformation and generalizations?

Scott answered your question --
"Changing the birth certificate is another matter. The ONLY reason to do so is to establish inheritance from your father. But he can take care of that with a will. To amend the birth certificate will mean paternity testing and a court battle since BOTH parents will need to agree."
Do you have additional questions about that? Do you want to know what to do step by step?

Yes, a court battle is much to vague. The city is Colorado. My eyebrows alone prove my Dad is my Dad and my Mom NOW has no problem with me adding him because she has matured and is over her initial revulsion to his adultery ways.

You first need your dad to submit to DNA testing. Would he do that?

How about this? "“In order to change or add a father's name to a birth certificate in Colorado, you need to contact the Colorado Vital Records and Paternity Determination Office. Individuals can change the father's name following a court order of paternity or by voluntary acknowledgment of paternity. Individuals with questions regarding the process can contact a Vital Records Specialist at 303-692-2230 or
[email protected].”
DNA is not needed IF the parties consent. The people to give more exact info are the people at Colorado Vital Records.
No one is going to change the birth certificate based on how eyebrows look, by the way.
It's not a good idea to fight with the people who are trying to help you, autism or no autism.

Informative although the last sentence is entirely unnecessary and inaccurate.
I'll call them tomorrow.

You come here asking people to help you. But then you badmouth them and the help you have received. Your original question was:
I want to add him to my BC and change my name to his.
Any further help would be appreciated.
That's what you got. You were referred to the Family Court system. Court procedures often differ from court to court. It is hard to be specific. If you find the initial answers not detailed enough for you, then you ask a follow-up question. And you don't start insulting the people who are trying to help you. The fact here is you came here and you posted a question to two very old (more than 4 years) threads. There is no need to post multiple times and you should start your own question.
Also, in your initial post you mentioned that your mother didn't like your father, so it was reasonable to assume she would not agree to adding him. But since you say they will both agree, then this should be easy, just contact the Bureau of Vital Statitistics as Judy suggested.
But please don't attack us for trying to help you.
