Hi,

My mom had a second marriage when I was 9 year old. My mom has an informal divorce paper on the stamp paper. I need to apply for my passport. I have changed my name in official gazette and announced in the news paper as required, however my birth certificate is in the old name. My new dad did not make any adoption deed.

Now the passport office is not ready to make my passport in the new name because they say I need to have a adoption deed to have my new name and new fathers name on passport.

All my records after 12th are in my new name.

I have learnt I can make my passport by having my old fathers name as my father name and my new name on my passport
e.g. old name abc old
Old father name efg
Old surname hij

New name 123
New father name 456
New surname 789

So on the passport it can be
Name as 123 456
Fathers name as abc hij

Is this possible, if yes what documents should I submit

Obviously not the US or Canada, this is an international site, telling us what country this is, will help. Laws vary differently.

Also if someone at the immmigration is telling you something, then normally that is how it has to be.
