I am 43. For the past 3 years I have not had any regular periods. For the past year I have had one every three months(that is a guess). I see a doctor regularly-my BMI is good and so are my hormones. I had a cysts that bleed out about two years ago-been find since. I am on Paxil and Trazadone as far as medications. What I am wondering is if I can get pregnant at all. I have had three kids, they are 23, 21 and 16. I have been in a relationship for four years. I assume my doctor would have found if there was anything wrong with me. I have blood test every 3-6 months due to my medication. So, just wondering really if I could get pregnant at all.

Yes, pregnancy is possible. You're still having periods, which means you're still ovulation, which means that pregnancy is a possibility.

You are most likely in peri-menopause at your age. While pregnancy is a possibility, your eggs are most likely deteriorating making a viable pregnancy harder as well as giving birth to a healthy baby risky.

At your age you have multiple risks associated with pregnancy. Down's Syndrome being just one. Others include Gestational Diabetes that can into permanent diabetes, Pregnancy Induced Hypertension that can turn into chronic hypertension, seizures, premature labor... etc.

Should you get pregnant, you would be placed in the high risk category due to your age alone.

It is still possible but not as likely.

I am not trying to get pregnant, if it happens-I would welcome him/her with all the love I have for my three children now-I was just wondering. It is so expensive to go to the doctor to just ask a question-so I saw this web-page and figure-why not check it out. Thank you all for your feed back.
