A friend of my daughter's said she was pregnant with twins but had to have a partial D&C to remove one. Is this possible and if so how dangerous is that to the remaining twin?

From what I've read this is not possible. Most doctors would have the patient carry both twins until delivery, even if one had passed on. She'd be considered a high risk pregnancy and monitored closely to make sure that the deceased twin was not interfering with the health of the remaining fetus.

But I have read some articles that say that a D&C is possible for a deceased twin, but only if the twins are in different sacks. I'm not really buying this. I've had a D&C when I miscarried my third child. From what they described about the procedure, there's really no way to remove just one fetus.

I've read that it is possible but risky. Google 'abort one twin.'
