I have a 4 year old rottweiler. At first he started getting sores & scabs around his neck and nose. After a round of amoxicillan, he now has what looks like a bad case of hives but in his ears. Just today he is starting to limp. Not sure what is going on but would love some insight as to how I can help him.

You need to get him back to the vet. There is no way we can diagnose what is wrong with him and it could be something serious.

It sounds like a possible allergy, but that wouldn't account for the limping, and this is just a guess, which is all I can give you over the internet.

You need to see your vet, and possibly book an appointment with a specialist.

Good luck.

Some autoimmune diseases can affect the skin and cause open lesions on the skin, hair loss, excessive scaling or a dry, very coarse, hair coat. I have seen dogs who have autoimmune, have a bald nose.

You should talk to your vet about this as being a possibility. Besides your dog's problem having an actual name, excessive allergies is nothing to not be worried about. The lesions your dog is scratching open on his body will cause a second bacterial infection and can possibly end his life.

You're dog is miserable.. Help him out.. Would you like to have hives? I doubt it.

Environmental and/or food allergies are very tough to diagnose. It takes time, money and diligence on your end. Allergy testing can take months before you see an improvement.

You really do need to go to your vet. This just isn't your typical itchy dog.
