Hello:
Wingers SAY Obama care was "rammed down their throats", but it was debated for TWO YEARS.. If you really want to know how to RAM stuff down your opponents throat, just look at what the wingers did in Michigan (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/12/us/protesters-rally-over-michigan-union-limits-plan.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20121212).

Did Obamacare ever see a legitimate vote like all legislation is supposed to? No it didn't.
Did Obamacare have the so-called debate behind closed and locked doors the Republicans were not allowed to participate in... most certainly YES.
The right to work was passed by a legitimate majority vote UNLIKE Obamacare...
Why should Non-democrats be forced to pay dues that are given to support ONLY the Democrat party?

Face it, right-to-work is where it's at. Our unemployment rate here in my city never went above 6% when the economy tanked. New construction here has been non-stop. There's a new major shopping center and 3 new hotels less than a half mile from where I work. Construction crews from all over the country have been getting in on the act here.
Been to Dallas lately? The whole darn Metroplex is under construction... gotta widen those highways and build homes for all the Californians fleeing their state (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/3344927-post49.html). You don't think other states want to see that kind of activity?
Besides the freedom and economic benefits of right-to-work, it's much more peaceful here without all those union thugs tearing down tents with women and children inside (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/3344324-post29.html), assaulting people (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/3344467-post30.html) and threatening civil wars.

My knees weren't jerking, I was just pointing out the reality. Only 11.4% of American workers are now union members, 7% in the private sector. Right-to-work is where it's at.
As for ramming it down their throats... reap what you sow.

Whenever a political party holds majority in both legislatures and the governorship that party - be it Democrat or Republican - will use tactics to limit debate and ram their legislation down the minority party's throat. And the minority party will scream "unfair" - right up until the day they become the majority party. The Republicans in Michigan weren't the first, and won't be the last. Here in Illinois we see it all the time with the Democrat legislature and governor doing their sweetheart deals with very limited debate. And we certainly see it in Chicago with the Democrat mayor and city council doing things like approving multi-year no bid contracts and selling off city assets with no debate allowed. So don't be surprised by this tactic when it happens in Michigan.

THat has NOTHING to do with the point... Union dues are extorted off employees to pay for things they neiother want nor support... like everything that doesn't pay for their benefits.
I personally object to MY dues being given to support Democrat candidates that have done absolutely NOTHING to help me or my needs...
If a Union is to contribute to ANY political campaign.. it should legally be required to give an equal amount to the other party as well.
Actually Union Dues should EXCLUSIVELY be used for members issues and benefits... NOT political follies.

See there is a big difference between excon and Obama... I could invite excon out for a beer if we found ourselves in the same town and we could probably have a decent conversation.
Obama would dictate WHAT bar we would be going to... WHAT we would be drinking... then expect me to pay for it along with the bill for all the underprivileged people that didn't come to the bar too, then he would preach about how I should feel privileged to give all MY money to the lazy.. while he is too cheap to hand over any of his massive wealth to the same people.
I would then begin to understand Lee Harvey Oswald in very short amount of time.
Even though I believe in Karma... and what goes around comes around.. and its going to hit him like a ton of bricks at some point when it does... Smart investors will be investing in KY jelly... the need for it is due to skyrocket..

It has NOTHING to do with his skin color... it has EVERYTHING to do with his lies and socialist leanings and ties to terrorists and the fact that he is utterly clueless about most things... the man isn't qualified to run a McDonalds store... and after four years he still doesn't have a clue to tie his own shoes... He isn't there under any merit.. he's there because of fraud and complicity from the socialist media who ceased being journalists years ago and are pure propagandists now.
SO before you start claiming its all because he is black... its the Democrats who were race baiting and committing the slander and libel.
Look at how Herman Cain... a man who actually DID have real accomplishments in his life... the left fears a black man who doesn't fall back to play the race card 5 times a day.
They paid several Democrat women to make false accusations about him... unfounded ones... then the leftist post did as their party commanded and libels and slandered him... because if there was ANY truth to even ONE of those claims there would have been a lawsuit filed and there never was.. some of them were never even named... probibly because they never existed...
Herman Cain was a black man I could respect because he earned his success... Barrak Obama never worked a real job in his life... and I have NO respect for him... and I never will.
The Democrat party has a vested interest in keeping the blacks and minorities down... so they can be the neverending victims that are in need of handouts in exchange for votes...
It's the Republican party that was responsible for the Civil rights laws the blacks enjoy today... something the democrats forget fighting against for decades...

Obama would have been fired from any REAL job. Why? Because spending money you don't have is considered fraud in the real world... any Business that spends more than it brings in would be shut down and liquidated by the bankruptcy court...
If a private person was writing out checks they didn't have money in the bank to cover would be put in jail for check fraud...
But then I suppose its legal to kite checks and defraud people and creditors in Canada since you think Obama is doing everything so freaking perfectly and is such a boy-god who can do no wrong.
After he has PERSONALLY run up MORE of a debt than every president since George Washington in 1776 through George Bush... COMBINED.

What part of leadership don't you get, did he spend this money alone? No, the money was spent under the auspices and consent of Congress. If anyone should take the blame for the mess it is that bunch of pussies. Some one yells do something and when something is done, they say, I was only talking, I didn't think you would do it.
So his life skills revolve around spending to solve a problem. If you didn't want him there you shouldn't have elected him, but you can't disregard history, the other side of politics is just as good at deficit spending as this fellow, who created the tax cuts that are the bone of contention now? It is once again obvious that people in the USA must demonstrate their lack of knowledge of the 95% who form the rest of humanity. There are educated people throughout the world, many with a far better education than is apparently available there. Many live without the prejudice which is apparent in that comment.
To correct the record Obama was born in Hawaii, and much of his education was in the US, his father was from Kenya, so maybe they don't teach people to balance checkbooks in Hawaii

Back to the subject of this post if you guys don't mind.
How (http://www.nationofchange.org/how-right-work-shirk-laws-kill-jobs-and-hurt-all-us-1355502817)
Unions were a crucial part of this process, too. By fighting for higher wages and better benefits, unions ensure that working people have the means to purchase consumer items, housing, and other goods and services. Companies have to hire more people to keep up with demand – and the good jobs keep coming.
That's why the Republican Party platform of 1956 boasted that “unions have grown in strength and responsibility, and have increased their membership by 2 millions” during Dwight D. Eisenhower's first term. Back then Republicans understood that a growing middle class was good for the entire economy. That party platform also said that “America does not prosper unless all Americans prosper.” Their rule: No shirkers.
But then in those days our economy wasn't dominated by Wall Street megabanks – institutions that don't build or sell anything. And politicians weren't completely in bankers' pockets back then, because the public wouldn't have tolerated it.
We shouldn't tolerate it now.
Just curious Speech, how much would you be making if YOUR boss didn't have to compete with the union scale for wages AND benefits?
paraclete
Dec 15, 2012, 07:37 PM
Hi Tal but don't you know speech did it all on his own without any help just like all of those other fat cats, there is nothing wrong with unions properly administered and responsive to the members, but in speech's world unions get in the way by insisting on fair pay, etc. If unions overreach then the bosses move the plant, but no individual has the power to stand up to the corporation.
tomder55

there is nothing wrong with unions properly administered and responsive to the members,
The unions early on in this country's history were corrupted by organized crime. Once labor laws codified union demands there was no more justification for their existence . Today ,they work hand in hand with the government to confiscate a percentage of union members wages . The unions then transfer that theft into the hands of the politicians . The rank and file get little benefit from that exchange. Eventually employers find other places to operate ;either in right to work states ,or by outsourcing .
I'll also point out that even FDR and the early labor movement folks understood that there was NO place in public employment for unions . Why ? Because they saw unions as vehicles to get workers more of the profits they help create. Public employess don't generate profits. They negotiate for more tax money. When government unions strike, they strike against taxpayers. F.D.R. considered this “unthinkable and intolerable.” That was also the position of George Meany;the former president of the A.F.L.-C.I.O .That was true through that Eisenhower era you discuss .
