Is the world going to end on December 21 2012? Is it real because I am getting kind of worried about it.

Nothing to worry about. It's the end of a calendar. Just like Dec 31st is the end of most calanders.

This prediction stems from the fact that the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/2012. Since the Mayan civilization ended over 4 centuries ago, people figure they were predicting the end of the world because the calendar ends.

I suggest, if this worries you, that you need to have a reality check. If the world will end, there is nothing you can do about it. But the likelihood is its just another phony conspiracy theory.

Actually, I was never aware of that, I only knew about 2012 when I saw a commercial about the movie and I have heard my friends at school say that people said the world was going to end in 2000 then this year in February and other dates! Thanks for answering anyway.

Yes, 2012 is real. It's been 2012 Since January first and will be so for a few more weeks. Not to worry though because on January 1st, it's going to be 2013.


Seriously though... I've been alive for 46 years and I can't count how many times I heard the world was going to end... guess what? We're still here and we still will be after the 21st.

If you're worried about it, perhaps you should look into where the prediction came from. As usually new age authors and the media have turned it into something it is not. The end of the world is the assumption others have made since it is the end of a cycle... and since the previous cycles had all ended in the end of the world. So, imagine that, according to them, over many thousands of years, the world has been destroyed multiple times over.
