I remember watching this when I was younger (possiby in the 90s) althougn the movie is probably older. A girl moves from America to England, I believe it is during a war. She goes to school and the teacher asks about the civil war and she describes the American civil war and the other students make fun of her. I can't remember if it was family she was staying with but she told the school that she was going home on weekends but she was fixing up this old house. She painted on the walls using stencils. I think I remember her singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall. She would take rolls from the school to eat. She had someone helping her with the house I think it was an older woman who eventually died and left her some gardeing tools.. not sure about that though. Also, the house leaked when it rained and they would yell "Battlestations!" and put buckets under the leaks.
All this information is random and out of order but that is all I can remember. My sister and I used to love this film when we were kids. Any help would be appreciated.
