Been charged with theft under 5000 in ontario canada. Did something I shouldn't of at canadain tire a few weeks ago, wasn't caught at the time, however the next time when I went to the store I was picked up by security at the door. Wondering what I am looking at when I go to court. I have no criminal record, however about 3 years ago I did the same thing at Walmart, however I was never charged with anything so I don't know if that incident would show or not. I am looking into a lawyer because I don't want to end up with a criminal record. Next month I am starting a Heavy Equipment Operating course and I really don't want to have issues finding a job afterwards.

Really bad choices in Ontario, Cdn. Tire and Walmart. They are right on the ball with security, who are 'just shoppers waundering around looking at stuff'. Most jobs in Ontario now ask for a background check with job application, and one every hear thereafter just to keep on top of issues.

Incidents do show up on background checks here. You are wise getting a lawyer. You might, just for the heck of it, go to your local police shop and ask for a background check, give your drivers license for ID and pay the $25. Just to see what is on it. It takes a couple of weeks, and you go pick it up.

I have no idea what you are looking at, but maybe just restitution to the store; you don't say how much it was worth, so hard to judge. As for the judge, you will be in court with l0 or so other people your age and all depends on how the judge is feeling that day towards his job.
