My boyfriend just found out that he and his brother inherited just over an acre in Logan, WV. They are interested in putting 3 to 4 trailers/mobile homes on the acreage. Is that allowed? And what are the requirements? Does an inspector need to check out the trailers? Is there a certain criteria that needs to be met i.e. skirting, water, insurance, etc. Any info would be appreciated! Thank you!

You will need to talk to the local building code inspector. Since you will need permits for the paids, electric and more.

Also what is the usage ? Rental or all family ?

How is the property zoned, multi family ?

It's a small town (under 1,800) but it's the county seat, so just walk into the town hall and start asking. Zoning might be first. Sewage capacity and type of septic is usually the first concern, depending on acreage and number of living space structures.

Thank you, none of this has occurred to him and his brother. Right now there are 4 trailers there and I think the county has no clue. There are no pads, and it's a mess. I kept telling them things were going to have to be legal but I'm just a girl what do I know? *evil grin* LOL

LOL, LOL
Some parts of the country (WV is probably one) are pretty lawless when it comes to zoning laws and building inspectors. A lot might depend on how well you all fit in as newcomers, or how well liked the relatives were who left the property to your boyfriend and his brother. Asking can open a can of worms, so can not asking. I'd suggest no big changes until they've been there a while and done some unofficial asking. Good luck.
