My daughter is 24 years old now, I lived in New Jersey, Canada the court ordered me to pay child support of amount of $50.00 a week which would be 200.00 a month but I even paid 300.00 for being a nice father. My daughter lives in California all the time. But the court in Calif would not consider my child support because it is out of country. Now they are suing me and I owe over 70,000 what should I do. I am very fariouse, even her family would not allow me to see her since she was 8 month old. Please help

Who did you pay the support to and do you have any record of it? What court has ordered you to pay support at the level of $200 ?

Did California have a separate hearing for child support that you were not told about? They should honor the Canadian Courts ruling for support. If you have proof you have paid and been paying on time then they will have to give you all credit due towards the amount. Also you need to move on this as soon as possible since you are stating that they have you on record as being in arrears. They can remove your passport as well as charge you 10% interest compounded on the remaining balance.

Was your ex on welfare of anykind through the state?

They will honor the Canada Child support, it appears that the facts where not given to them properly. Did you have an attorney at the hearing in CA? You need to appeal this verdict .

Hi, the interest is already added on, that's why the balance is so high and this is running my life, I can not even get a decent job and I barely making it on my own. No my ex is not on any welfare support, the family very rich but yet they are going after me just to give me hard time and make my life misrable.
