Can I collect child support from my dad after 55 years that he never paid my mom who has passed on now?

The support was for her to take care of you, and also there is a statute of limitations.
Maybe you can gain some sort of relationship with him, and he might want to make up for lost time. I understand that your mother may have had a tough time supporting you, but try to wait until you hear his side of the story before you judge. Money might not assuage your hurt anyway.

Was there ever a filing made against him ? Or a default entry by the courts ?

If there was a court order for support in place, it may be possible depending on where you are at.
If there was no court order, no there is nothing that can be done at this point.
If there was a court order, in almost any place I know ( if not all) the statute of limitation to collect has long passed and there is nothing you can do.
If there is no SOL in your area, then the estate of the mother can claim, and any money will go to the heirs divided as any money in the estate.
