Hello!

I have a boyfriend and we have 4 years together, at first I thought I loved him because when he approached me I just kept thinking about him and I accepted him very quickly. But then I felt like I was not very happy with him and there are things about him that I don't like and whenever I want him to change, he don't change completely, he is short tempered, let his anger control him whenever I do wrong, tell me harsh words and sometimes he beats me up.

I think I want to break up with him and there is another man that I think he loves me and am happy with. The problem is my boyfriend doesn't want to breakup because he says he loves me so much although we are not happy anymore.

I am confused I don't want this relationship anymore because I don’t believe I have ever really loved him and we have really been happy.

Please help.

I don't think the issue here is if you love him or not but rather that he beats you up.

You are in a violent relationship and you deserve better. You need to protect yourself from this situation.
There are lots of options and groups out there to help you through this. You are not alone.

I was in a relationship for 3 years with someone who used to hit me and I was convinced I loved him and that it was my fault I angered him enough to warrant the beatings. NOTHING you ever do warrants a beating.

Speak to your local domestic violence unit through the police. It doesn't mean you have to press charges or anything but they can help get you to a safer place in your life.

You owe it to yourself to be safe and happy.

You need to get out of this relationship.

Be strong and good luck and remember, you deserve better.
