I have sewage in my laundry tubs, I couldn't flush one of the toilets after my small granddaughter left so I plunged it and it worked, but the next day after taking a shower the laundry tubs partially filled with sewage. A plumber came and snaked from a different tiolet and said the main drain had roots in it and that he would need to backhoe and put in a box. Just now I discovered what appears to be the back of a kotex pad in the drain in the laundry tub. The water in the tub has gone down to a couple of inches. I'm concerned that he is going to do more than is needed. What to do?

I discovered what appears to be the back of a kotex pad in the drain in the laundry tub. If you're flushing sanitary napkins and things like baby wipes gown the toilet then stop it at once. Nothing but human waste should go in a toilet.

A box because he found roots? Get rid of him and call in a plumber with a sewer Cam, See what shape the sewer pipes are in and if he finds roots the go to the Garden Store and pick up a pound of Copper Sulfate , Pour a half pound in your toilet and flush it down. That will kill the roots, Then get a plumber in and snake the line with a cutter tip to break up the tangle od dead roots. There will be some plumbers that want to dig up and replace the line.
