Hey,

I was convicted on DWI this past week (NC). I shouldn't have been driving but I scratched a car pulling out of a parking space (unattended). I panic and didn't leave my information for the other person/car. I wake up the next day to find that my car is towed. An officer writes a citation/ticket for "hit and run" and "no license". What kind of fees/jail time am I looking at?

My DWI attorney didn't really help at all with my case. Should I hire the same attorney or find a new attorney?

All answers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on the mood of the judge that day... seriously.. I've seen people convicted and handcuffed and taken to jail for a year for driving with no license... and a hit and run makes it that much worse... luckily there was no bodily injury involved.

A lot depends on your prior driving record and criminal history... yes they do check those BEFORE the court hearing.

I'd be interested in finding out how the officer was able to prove that you were operating the vehicle.

He said there were 4 witnesses that saw the incident and that's how he got my plate.

Hello L:

Your plate number PROVES your car was there, but it doesn't prove YOU were there.

PS> I'd NEVER hire a lawyer that I wasn't satisfied with the first time around.
