My basement is divided into 2 sections, with each section having its own CB of 20 amps. I currently building a studio apt, which utilize both sections of the basement. I'm using each amps (sections) to power lighting & outlets.

One side, I have: 8 outlets & 1 light fixture.

Other side, I have: 5 Outlets & 3 lights.

My concern or question is: Am I safe with the utilization of each amps for both sections.

Thanks
Henry

How many circuits for a space depends on the square footage of that space. Beginning with 3 watts per square foot for general lighting. There may be other required circuits/ loads also.

So, cannot tell you if those two circuits are sufficient until we know the sq ft. of livable space.

First, thank you for helping me.

The studio is: 24' X 17' = 408 sq ft.

The reason for so many Outlets, is because of convenience and not because they all will be utilize at the same time. Don't like extension cords (too messy).

For the record, I also have 2 more breaker covering the rest of the basement. All 4 amps were already in place (Main Panel) when I bought the house 17 yrs ago.

The studio will have a kitchenette: Sml Frige (office size) / Micro / Toaster Oven). The bathroom will be on another breaker, which I will be adding to the main bx.

Thx

Seems this space is well covered by ample circuits. The circuits you propose is fine.

vandido...
Is this apartment for your private use or will you be renting
To the public?
If public, you should have a conversation with your building official
Electrical subcode. I smell fire walls and separations...

It's for personal used.

I don't like renting!

In that case you're good to go!

Like I said before those 20 amps breakers were there before I bought the house (active), but now that I'm sectioning the space into 2 sections, I figured a second opinion wouldn't hurt and be safe.

Thank You again
