View Full Version : Circulating pump will not shut off

Hello,
I have a oil fired furnace with hot water baseboards. The furnace is a Burnham with a Beckett burner, with a Honeywell triple aquastat ( type L8124A). Here is my issue... after we lost power last week from hurricane Sandy, I started the generator. One of the circuit breakers on the generator tripped overnight because the rain had shifted directions. Apparently, because everything that was running overnight did not get the needed power because of the tripped breaker, a few items died. One being the furnace. When we got power back it would not start. I replaced the ignition relay box and the furnace started. However, the circulating pump runs all the time even when the zone valves are not calling for heat and the boiler is up to temperature for the domestic hot water. If I turn the low cut in dial on the aquastat, the pump will shut off when the temp on the knob matches the temperature of the boiler. The relay in the aquastat keeps the points closed no matter what. Did the generator cook the aquastat as well ?

Thanks, Scot
