I am looking for a reliable, reasonably priced (i.e. $500 or less) battery-powered backup sump pump capable of 35 GPM at 10 ft. Any suggestions as to a manufacturer and model? Any experience with the Wayne ESP45?

Thanks for the reply. I saw that discussion from a few years ago, but the Zoeller recommended therein is out of my price range (approx. $800) and, according to tests performed by sumpdata.com, the Pro Series 2400 recommended therein pumps only about 13 GPM instead of the advertised 40 GPM. Any other recommended models?

This is a battery back up INVERTER especially made for sump pump accplications. This would allow you to use your existing sump pump even if power goes out... no need for weaker back up pump in this case... just use the existing pump that is there now.

I use a 3000 watt inverter for the much to often power outages at home. Works great.

Thanks Mark. I'm not familiar with inverters. Do I need an electrician to set it up? Any guesstimate on how long it will power a sump pump in the event of an outage (in heavy rain, my pump kicks on approx. every 50 seconds)?

No electrician needed at all... not if you have basic mechanical skills. You will need a marine battery or two, but you'd need one or two with a battery back up pump, too!

In terms of time to run a sump pump, I would contact the INVERTER STORE directly and see how they break down the time to run a sump pump off their inverter. I'm thinkin' these things will take care of you for quite some time!

The inverter store also sells the 3000 watt inverter, as parttime also mentioned above, but for just a sump pump a 1500 watt may be all that is needed.

Call the inverter store and talk to the tech. department for the best answer on this, OK? I think you'll be quite impressed once you investigate these! I know I won't install a zoeller back up pump (or any other brand) when I can instead simply use my customer's existing, more-powerful sump pump itself as the back up... ;)
