I am 33 years old. My menstrual cycle is very heavy and long and not regular at all. We want to have children. It is advisable to start going on "the pill" now for a few months to get my cycle right, and then start to try to fall pregnant, or how else can I get my period regular and up my chanses to fall pregnant

It's best to find out why you're having this issue to start with. There can be issues like endometriosis or ovarian cysts that can mess with your cycle or cause heavy bleeding. See your doctor, tell her what's going on, and she may recommend a variety of things. The pill might be prescribed, but may not be appropriate depending on what's going on with you.
